Facilities
Our data centre is an enterprise-grade facility designed for high reliability and security. In addition to our co-location area, the facility also houses the corporate data centre for Conestoga-Rovers and Associates, supporting 2100 employees in more than 60 offices worldwide. For this reason, CRA has made significant investments in the facility and its maintenance. Our co-location customers are able to leverage this investment by housing their equipment in an enterprise-grade data centre while avoiding the high cost of building and maintaining their own facility.
The following information details some of the more prominent features of our facility:
Diesel Generator
The diesel generator is a 350 KW Cummins unit and provides backup power to both the equipment in the facility and the air conditioning systems that cool the facility. The unit is inspected and tested weekly and receives professional annual maintenance to ensure that it will operate when needed. The generator is controlled by an automatic transfer switch which is capable of starting the generator and transferring the load with no human intervention.
Un-interruptible Power Supplies
Short-term backup power is provided by a modular, redundant 3-phase double-conversion UPS system from Powerware. The system is expandable, and features a wrap-around maintenance which enables individual UPS modules to be added or serviced without removing power from the critical load.
Fire Suppression System
The Inergen clean agent fire suppression system uses an inert gas blend of nitrogen, argon, and carbon dioxide to displace the oxygen in the room in the event of a fire. Unlike other gas-based systems, the Inergen system is non-toxic and environmentally benign. The system is inspected and tested annually to ensure that it remains effective.
Networking and Equipment Area
The equipment area is network connected via physically diverse fibre optic cable to two separate Atria POP sites to ensure uninterrupted connectivity. The equipment area is constructed with a 24 inch raised floor that provides easy equipment cabling and allows an optimum distribution of cooling air throughout the site.
