WDF Secure Co-location Services
We have co-location packages for every situation, from a single 1U server to multiple customer- supplied racks with custom 3-phase power distribution. Large or small, our philosophy is the same; security and reliability are paramount.
During the 2003 North American Blackout which affected approximately 50 million people, many data centres went down, primarily due to backup generators failing to start. The Waterloo Data Fortress maintained 100% uptime during the blackout and all subsequent power outages. Our connectivity through Atria Networks was continuous. We test our backup power systems weekly, and perform regular preventive maintenance on our generator to ensure that it will start every time.

Power - Our power system includes triple feeds to each rack, sourced from multiple redundant UPS modules which are backed up by a 350KW Cummins diesel genset.
Climate control - The data centre is cooled by an industry-standard Liebert HVAC unit which uses the raised floor and vented tiles to duct the cold air to the front of the racks where it is needed.
Fire suppression - We use an environmentally friendly, non-toxic clean agent fire suppression system known as Inergen. This equipment-safe solution is based on inert gases which continue to provide cooling to the equipment while displacing the oxygen and stopping the fire.
Security - Our concentric security model is fundamental to the operation of our data centre. All clients and visitors are escorted at all times. We utilize RFID tokens as well as mechanical locks, and all electronic access is logged and audited. We have a fully monitored security system, as well as video surveillance.
Networking - Our facility includes diverse, redundant fibre connections to multiple Atria Networks Points of Presence to ensure continuous connectivity in the event that a fibre cable is cut. We also have fibre connectivity to Bell Canada (as well as other carriers through Bell).
